Updating previous reports, Florida Marlins SS Hanley Ramirez's six-year, $70 million contract extension, which would commit him to the team through the 2014 season, is expected to be officially announced Saturday, May 17, according to Joe Frisaro of Marlins.MLB.com. Ramirez is making $439,000 this year, and will make $5.5 million in 2009. For the three seasons where he would have qualified for arbitration (2009-2011), he will earn $23.5 million. He will receive $15 million in 2012, $15.5 million in 2012 and $16 million in 2014. |
