Player Notes
Brandon Phillips provided the Reds their only hit as they were shut out by the Cubs 7-0 on Tuesday.

Advice: Jake Arrieta was five outs from a no-hitter, but Phillips ended the attempt with a double to left-center. He finished 1-for-3 on the night. Phillips is near the end of a dreadful, injury-hampered season, slashing .258/.302/.364 with seven home runs and 48 RBI.

Brandon Phillips is not in the Reds' starting lineup on Monday night against the Cubs.

Advice: It's just a routine day of rest for the veteran second baseman, who's batting .202 with a .523 OPS since returning August 18 from a torn thumb ligament. Kristopher Negron is starting at second base on Monday.
