Player Notes
Juan Uribe delivered a walk-off single in the 10th inning, helping the Mets fend off the Dodgers on Sunday.

Advice: Uribe pinch-hit for Kelly Johnson in the eighth inning and struck out and stayed in the game. In the 10th, the Mets had runners on first and second with one out for Uribe, who hit a walk-off RBI single to center field against Kenley Jansen. Uribe has gone 1-for-2 in each of two games since coming over to the Mets with Johnson in a trade with the Braves. He's hitting .275/.333/.411 overall this season with eight home runs and 24 RBI.

Mets acquired INF Juan Uribe, INF/OF Kelly Johnson and cash considerations from the Braves for RHP John Gant and RHP Robert Whalen.

Advice: Uribe will function as the Mets everyday third baseman while David Wright is sidelined. The 36-year-old still has pop in his bat and was slashing a healthy .285/.353/.464 with seven bombs and 17 RBI in 46 games with the Braves after coming over from the Dodgers. He also adds a strong veteran presence to the Mets clubhouse.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Braves have agreed to deal with the Mets to acquire Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson in exchange for minor league right-handers John Gant and Robert Whalen.

Advice: Uribe should slot in as the everyday third baseman in New York until David Wright returns, and Kelly Johnson upgrades the bench with his power and versatility. It's a nice low-cost move for Sandy Alderson to add some much needed punch to the Mets struggling offense.

Fri, Jul 24 Rotoworld
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Mets are closing in on a deal to acquire Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson from the Braves.

Advice: It's unclear what the Mets would have to part with in such a deal, but it presumably wouldn't involve any top prospects. While not major impact players, each would improve the Mets offense and overall versatility.

Fri, Jul 24 Rotoworld
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mets have discussed a trade involving Juan Uribe with the Braves.

Advice: Uribe is hitting .279/.346/.456 with seven homers over 44 games since the Braves acquired him and also plays a good third base. He would make sense as the Mets look to add a bat, although it would mean moving Daniel Murphy back to second base. Heyman says that the Braves want a mid-range prospect for Uribe and for the acquiring team to pick up the roughly $3 million remaining on his deal. The latter could be an issue for the Mets, as it appears they're not looking to take on much salary.
