RHP Roy Oswalt improved to 4-4 on Monday, throwing a two-hitter for his second complete game over his last three starts. He beat the Padres 3-1 with his 17th career complete game. "I felt good from the start," Oswalt said. "I had a good fastball and mixed my curveball early. ... I think the biggest thing was getting ahead. Once you get ahead you can throw around the strike zone."

After last week's poor outing, Oswalt rebounded with just one run allowed over six innings in Wednesday's no-decision vs. Kansas City. He tallied 106 pitches, a welcomed decrease after averaging 123 the previous two outings.
Recommendation: Oswalt hasn't matched his usual numbers, but can post a strong month at any time. He should be more fresh at San Diego next Monday after regular rest and a lower pitch count.
