Victor Caratini hit an RBI single in the 10th inning to lift Houston to a 2-1 win over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night after the Astros lost their starting pitcher when Ronel Blanco was ejected following a foreign substance check. The game was tied at 1 when pinch-runner Trey Cabbage replaced Jon Singleton as the automatic runner on second in the 10th.
The Houston Astros are calling up Trey Cabbage, a league source tells KPRC 2. The outfielder and first baseman is being added to the 26-man roster as a replacement for first baseman Jose Abreu, who was optioned to West Palm Beach to correct swing issues that have led to a start where the former league MVP is hitting .099 in April. The Astros used Cabbage as the 27th man in Mexico City, where he went 1-for-2 with a an RBI double in Houston's Saturday win over the Colorado Rockies.
