RHP Rafael Betancourt's $5.4 million option for 2010 was declined by the Rockies, but they want to retain him. There was no buyout. Betancourt made $3.35 million in 2009, when the Rockies acquired him July 23 from the Indians for minor league right-hander Connor Graham. Betancourt, 34, went 3-1 with a 1.78 ERA in 32 games for the Rockies with five walks, 29 strikeouts and 17 hits allowed in 25 1/3 innings. The Rockies are trying to work out a two-year deal with Betancourt with an average annual value below $5.4 million. |
