CF Carlos Beltran, who had been hitting cleanup, and 1B Carlos Delgado, who had been hitting mostly fifth, were flipped in the batting order for Wednesday night's game against Philadelphia. Manager Jerry Manuel said it was to take advantage of Delgado's hot hitting. Delgado went 1-for-2 with two walks and was hit by a pitch. |

Beltran and Carlos Delgado have flip-flopped spots in the batting order Wednesday, with Beltran now hitting fifth. Recommendation: No reason has been given for the move, but it may just be a way of rewarding Delgado for his current hot stretch. This is the first time Beltran is batting fifth since June 15, 2003, as a member of the Royals at San Francisco. |
