Player Notes
Carlos Beltran (hamstring) is absent from Wednesday's lineup versus the Rangers.

Advice: It's no surprise after Beltran was removed from Tuesday's game with a tight right hamstring. The Yankees are calling him day-to-day after an MRI came back clean, so a weekend return is possible if he shows enough progress. Aaron Hicks is starting in right field Wednesday while Alex Rodriguez serves as the DH.

Carlos Beltran (hamstring) is considered day-to-day after Tuesday's MRI came back clean.

Advice: The 39-year-old outfielder was forced to leave Tuesday's game after his first at-bat due to tightness in his right hamstring, the Yankees appeared to have dodged a bullet here though. He may sit out on Wednesday as a precautionary measure, but expect the hot-hitting Beltran back in the lineup by the weekend.

Carlos Beltran was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rangers with a tight right hamstring.

Advice: He'll head for a precautionary MRI to determine the extent of the damage. The Yankees can't afford to have his bat out of the lineup long, as the veteran slugger is hitting .297/.336/.570 with 19 homers and 53 RBI in a resurgent season.

Carlos Beltran was forced to leave Tuesday's game against the Rangers in the second inning with an apparent leg injury.

Advice: Beltran singled in his first at-bat and then pulled up lame instead of going to second base. Team trainers and Joe Girardi came out immediately to look at Beltran who was quickly yanked. Look for the club to provide an update on the status of the hot-hitting outfielder shortly.

Carlos Beltran went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a win over the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: Beltran tied things up with an RBI single in the fifth inning before Starlin Castro put the Yankees ahead on a fielder’s choice in the eighth. The veteran outfielder has hit safely in four straight games and six out of his last seven as his resurgent campaign continues. He’s batting .290/.328/.573 with 19 home runs and 53 RBI through 70 games this season.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post expects the Yankees to extend a qualifying offer to Carlos Beltran when he reaches free agency this offseason.

Advice: The one-year qualifying offer would likely pay between $16.5-17 million. Of course, New York could change its mind if Beltran cools off and he could even be floated as trade bait if the Yankees become sellers at the trade deadline. But if anyone can afford to pay $17 million for a 40-year-old outfielder, it's the Yankees. The veteran has been the team's best hitter by far this year with 19 HR and 51 RBI through 68 games.
