LHP Jarrod Washburn won't be offered a contract for 2010, as he was officially informed recently by Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski. Washburn had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after the season and hopes to be 100 percent next year. His knee was given as the main reason he went just 1-3 with a 7.33 ERA for the Tigers after being acquired at the trade deadline from Seattle, for whom he was 8-6 with a 2.64 ERA. |

Washburn says the arthroscopic surgery on his knee in October was minor and he's almost back to full strength. "It feels great now, almost like I didn't even have a surgery. So, I don't see it being a problem for me in the future," he told FoxSports.com. Washburn has said there's mutual interest in returning to Seattle and he'd also like to play for Minnesota or Milwaukee close to his Webster, Wis. home. Recommendation: The knee injury doesn't look like an issue for 2010. It looks like he'll have several suitors this offseason but may take a home town discount to pay for the Twins or Brewers. |
