Player Notes
David Ortiz's 25th homer was a three-run shot off Mike Pelfrey on Tuesday.

Advice: Ortiz is the ninth player (eighth different) to hit 25 homers at age 40 or above. Barring something shocking, he'll be the second to get to 30, and he has a good shot of overtaking Darrell Evans' record of 34 from the rabbit ball season of 1987.

David Ortiz is absent from the Red Sox' lineup Sunday.

Advice: It appears to be a routine day of rest. Hanley Ramirez is in the designated hitter spot, while Travis Shaw is at first base and Aaron Hill is covering third. Mookie Betts (knee) is also sitting out again.

David Ortiz finished 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in a loss to the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: Ortiz got his runs batted in by way of a sacrifice fly and a bases-loaded walk, proving that he does more than just mash baseballs out of the park. He does plenty of that, too -- he's got 24 home runs, and his 81 RBI are second-most in the AL. We'll continue to sing the praises of Ortiz, who is now hitting .332/.423/.671, until his final game in a Red Sox uniform, it appears.

David Ortiz finished 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and four RBI in Thursday's win over the Twins.

Advice: Papi came through with RBI singles in the first and seventh innings before launching the big fly in the eighth to put a cherry on top of his good evening. The homer was his 24th this year, giving him 79 RBI. He appears intent to end his going away party as strongly as he began it, as Ortiz is now hitting .330/.423/.673 overall. He still leads the league in slugging percentage and OPS while ranking among the league leaders in multiple other categories.

Thu, Jul 21 Rotoworld
David Ortiz hit a three-run homer off Jake Peavy in the defeat of the Giants on Tuesday.

Advice: It was Ortiz's 23rd homer and 58th extra-base hit. He's just five extra-base hits away from breaking Dave Winfield's record for a player over 40. He's never led the AL in OPS or slugging percentage before, but this could be the year.
