Pinch-hitter Victor Caratini’s two-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning and Josh Hader's first two-inning outing since 2019 lifted the Houston Astros over the Cleveland Guardians 10-9 on Tuesday night. Houston trailed 9-8 after pinch-hitter David Fry’s RBI double off Josh Hader (1-2) with two outs in the top of the 10th. Caratini homered to right-center field off Hunter Gaddis (1-1) to give the Astros a season-high three-game winning streak.
Right-hander Hunter Gaddis and left-hander Tim Herrin are two of the reasons why the Guardians' bullpen has pitched so well through the first 23 games of the season. The bullpen entered Wednesday night's game against Boston with a record of 7-2 with a 2.05 ERA and eight saves in 11 chances. Gaddis and Herrin spent much of last season driving between Class AAA Columbus and Cleveland on I-71. Gaddis made three trips to the big league club, while Herrin made five.
