Now here's a familiar pose from Chipper Jones

Am I the only one who saw this picture on the Internets last night and figured that Chipper Jones' run in the .400s was predictably being put on the shelf? Luckily, it turns out he was only hit by a pitch and expects to be back for tonight's game against the Mets.

From MLB.com:

Jones left during the seventh inning of the Braves' 11-4 win after being hit above the right ankle by Mets reliever Scott Schoeneweis. Jones' shin was swollen after the game, and pitcher Tim Hudson joked with Jones that he had been put out of the game by a curveball.

After being hit, Jones hobbled around near the Braves' dugout before heading into the clubhouse with a trainer.

"I couldn't put any weight on it at the beginning," Jones said. "But I'm sure it will feel better tomorrow."

Jones sat out a game with a sore groin last week, so I can only assume the inevitable injury is creeping closer. But here's to his continued (good) health. Of all the things I'd like to see this season, an extended run at .400 is at the top of the list for individual achievements.

No doubt a first ballot hall of famer. It is nice to see a great performer having arguably the best season of his career with no "questions" about his use of Performance Enhancing Drugs.......EVER.

this has nothing to do with him being injury prone, he got pegged which is beyond his control. cal ripken jr. could have missed a game if he had gotten pegged on the right spot, but was fortunate enough not to.

Chipper is by far one of the greatest ball players any of us have ever had the chance to watch play. We should all be grateful that we were a witness to this kind of greatness

.500 would be in sight if he had gotten injured. In case you haven't followed Chipper of late, when he comes off the DL, he is lights out. Remember the year he went something like 12 straight games with not only a hit, but an extra base hit at that? The guy hits .400+ when he comes off the DL. That's probably what will propel him to hitting .400 this year, a trip to the DL. By the way, Chipper only had 9 errors last year and Wright had twice as many, if not more and Chipper didn't get the Gold glove. Chipper is one of the best we'll ever see.

It looks like both Chipper Jones and Lance Berkman in the immortal words of Huey Lewis have found a "New Drug."

Go Chip! Chipper represents the true magic of baseball. He is the player everyone wants to see, he's good and he knows it but he is not cocky. He has never had a big head about any of his accomplishments. I wouldn't say that he is injury prone either. He is just a player that is not afraid to risk injury to get the out or lean in to a pitch to squeeze the pither to walk him. Chipper plays the true game of baseball and not the game of dollars. As far as hitting 500, its still a possibility, because after all this time his power has not weakened. Even if he doesn't hit 500 he has a long list of other accomplishments because he is so well rounded on the field and in the batter's box. Go Braves!
