Last fall, Dennis Eckersley caused a bit of Internet stir when he told the Stew's own Nick Friedell that he doesn't like when others call his hairstyle a mullet.
"What do you want me to do, cut my hair?" he asked incredulously at the time. "This is who am I."
Well, it's a new season and Eck now has a new pet peeve. From now on, the Hall of Fame pitcher would prefer you not call his mustache a "porn 'stache."
Eckersley drops that request near the end of a highly entertaining 20-minute interview in Big League Stew's second Stewcast and we've made sure that you can listen to the excerpt here:
But, really, make sure to stick around for the whole thing because Eckersley doesn't hesitate in showing why he's one of Boston's most popular broadcasters and why he just signed a multi-year extension with TBS to serve as a Sunday afternoon and postseason analyst. (TBS' weekend slate starts on April 12 with a Mets-Marlins game.)
In the interview, we talk with Eckersley on everything from the WBC ("Who cares?) to his predictions on the upcoming AL East race and whether he'll be in Cooperstown to see two former teammates in Jim Rice and Rickey Henderson join him in the Hall of Fame.
After the interview, Nick Friedell and I talk about baseball's spring training experience from our respective perches. He's currently in the Grapefruit League, while I'm Cactus'ing it up in the Valley of the Sun. Altogether not a bad effort and it appears that we've ironed out some of the volume level issues from Stewcast No. 1. Enjoy.
