Villarreal secured second place after beating Recreativo Huelva on Wednesday. Manuel Pellegrini's side sits 10 points adrift of champion Real Madrid, but is seven clear of third-placed Barcelona with just two games remaining. Club president Fernando Roig is thrilled with the team's lofty position. "I am proud that we have been able to qualify for the Champions League without having to go through the qualifying rounds, and to see us in the table between Real Madrid and Barcelona," he said. Villarreal now faces Espanyol at El Madrigal on Sunday. Fabricio Fuentes is sidelined for the rest of the season and will not be able to feature in that match, but Sebastian Eguren returns from suspension.
