Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido faces seven years in prison after Spain's Supreme Court failed to overturn an initial sentence against him for corruption charges, and as a result he will stop being the club's president with immediate effect. In December 2011 Del Nido was found guilty of fraud, corruption and embezzlement of public funds between 1999 and 2003. The charges of fraud have been dropped and his sentence subsequently reduced by six months, but the other charges were upheld. Del Nido refused to resign as president until his appeal was heard, but he will now be replaced by the current vice-president, Pepe Castro.
