Next Match: at home to Arminia Bielefeld, May 08 Bayer Leverkusen are fighting to keep hold of on-loan midfielder Toni Kroos until after the DFB-Pokal final on May 30. The Bundesliga season ends one week earlier and Kroos will be wanted to take part in three matches for the German under-19 squad that week. But not if Leverkusen can do anything about it. "In the worst-case scenario, he would return to us just two days before the cup final," said coach Bruno Labbadia. "That would not be ideal." Not only is Leverkusen fighting to keep hold of him for that week, but the 19-year-old's future next season remains undecided. Although he is on loan from Bayern Munich for two years, the Bavarian club has an option to recall him after one. The chances of him being recalled depending on who is confirmed as the new Bayern coach and whether he wants Kroos in his squad. |
