Aries

The first two days of the week are a wash, what with the holiday season's aftermath. Chances are you aren't at work anyway. Then Wednesday comes around. Wednesday is a whole new ballgame. You're inspired in a way that you haven't been in a while, eager to meet new people, drum up new business, try new things. On Thursday, you're glowing with ambition. On Friday, financial realities bring you back down to Earth, but you're not so quick to give up. You go into the weekend trying to figure out how to make business magic.

Taurus

The week starts with a day off of work. Strangely enough you miss it. You long to be around other people, or at least people who understand you in the way that certain colleagues do. Spend the free time setting goals for the future. Then, when you come into the office on Tuesday or Wednesday, you won't feel like you've lost any time. If part of your plan for the future involves purchasing something, hold off, especially on Thursday. Shop around. On Friday, someone responds to your ideas with flattering praise. Is it possible they're hitting on you as well? Yes, it's entirely possible.

Gemini

Among the holiday-season excitement, your career feels very distant, abstract, blurry. It's possible that you need a change. What else could you do? What would you enjoy? This is what you're turning over in your mind on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday, you're ready to talk it over with someone. Oddly enough, the best person to talk with about a career change might be someone at work. (Obviously it should be someone you trust to keep quiet.) On Friday, you're so busy you have no time to think about anything but the tasks at hand -- and then, magically, it's the weekend.

Cancer

You have a lot of energy at the start of the week, but you seem to have no outlet for it. Well, at least no work-related outlet. By the time you get to work on Wednesday, you're hopping, very excitable and ready to dive into anything. In fact, there's a chance that you'll come on too strong or say the wrong thing; conversely, someone may say something you take way too personally. The more even-keeled you can be, the better. On Friday, you have a breakthrough about a project that everyone's involved with. Consequently, the workweek ends with everyone toasting your genius.

Leo

You approach the start of the week -- even when you're not at work, owing to the holiday -- in a businesslike manner. This especially holds true in dealings with family. When someone unwraps a shiny new toy, you weigh in with wisdom about surface value versus actual value. When someone throws a tantrum, you maintain total decorum. Then, when Wednesday comes around and you're actually at work, your attitude toward it is not very businesslike at all: You act like you're at a party. This week, relationships are all that matter. You work with some pretty spectacular people.

Virgo

Whatever happens at the start of the week, don't jump down anyone's throat -- especially if you're not at work and on holiday instead. Let the confusion be funny, rather than frustrating. Fall in love with the idea that you're not in control (for once!). It'll only be a matter of time (Wednesday, in fact) until you're back to the usual battles, both subtle and overt, that play out around the office. Thursday is particularly combative, although that can probably be chalked up to general holiday-season friction. Friday is the opposite. Compatibility, achievement and delicious food all figure strongly.

Libra

There's so much happening at the outset of the week that you can't keep your head straight. Good thing you don't have to be at work! The holiday is disorienting, but in a great way. If you go back to work on Tuesday, stick to the tasks you know well -- Tuesday's no time for trying anything fancy. Wednesday and Thursday are much more about other people than bullet points on a to-do list. (To appease someone, you might have to strike a compromise on something; it's absolutely worth it.) Friday is an incredible day at work. It's so fun you'll almost wish it wouldn't end (really!).

Scorpio

Monday and Tuesday are wonderful days for you, although chances are you're not spending them at work. If you go into the office on Tuesday, it will seem more like a fairy tale landscape than work. It isn't until Wednesday that you put in a day's labor -- although, as labor goes, it's incredibly light. Someone needs help organizing a project; someone else needs help avoiding a conflict. Both solutions come to you. Easily. On Friday, however, a conflict of a different sort erupts, and you're involved in some way. Tensions are high. The year is about to end. Every moment feels loaded.

Sagittarius

Monday and Tuesday have you thinking about your past. Holidays have a way of hauling out soft-focused, long-forgotten memories. It isn't until Wednesday that you're back at work and seriously working. Everyone else is seriously working too, and the shared energy makes it easier. Then, on Thursday, a staff meeting turns into a giant game of Twister, or maybe hide-and-seek. You're laughing so hard that your cheeks hurt. You're lucky to work with people who have a talent for spontaneity. It isn't until Friday that the group gathers focus again. Project deadlines are looming.

Capricorn

This week finds you preoccupied with family and personal matters -- which makes sense, given the time of year. But your thoughts are far away from the office. All that you have to contribute to a meeting on Wednesday is worry. The sentiment has nothing to do with work; you're just in a fret-filled mood. On Thursday, you're postponing things -- meetings, deadlines -- left and right. Plan to do the bulk of your work this week on Friday, when you'll have the creative energy to tackle anything.

Aquarius

On Monday and Tuesday, you're sidetracked, for obvious reasons. If you come into the office on Tuesday, no one will be doing much of anything. On a personal level, you're out of money (but money's hardly the point this week). Wednesday and Thursday are brainy, philosophical, wide-focused days. An article you read on the Internet about somewhere far away resounds in a way you can't quite understand, but it subtly alters your view on the world (and on your career). Friday finds you surfing the Web. There just isn't that much work this week.

Pisces

Treat yourself well at the start of the week. If other people treat you well also, you'll be treated doubly well. You certainly deserve it. You deserve the whole week off in fact! That said, if you have to go into work on Tuesday, spend the day dreaming up projects that you would genuinely love to work on. Dream big. Wednesday and Thursday see you entering unknown territory and figuring it out as you go. You're smart. You're good on your feet. But on Friday, what with New Year's approaching, you're preoccupied. It takes all day to compose a couple of emails.
