Turner Construction will be construction manager for Kansas football gateway project

LAWRENCE — Kansas University announced Monday that Turner Construction has been selected as the construction manager for the Gateway Project that encompasses David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium and the immediate area.

A KU release outlined that Engineering News-Record ranks Turner Construction as the best construction manager in the nation. It also described Turner Construction as the third-best sports builder. And while more information about this project will be revealed Aug. 15, this is another step forward in significant plan for the Kansas football program and campus in general.

KU first announced the Gateway Project in October 2022. Earlier this year, it received $50 million through the Kansas Department of Commerce’s University Challenge Grant program. According to the application for the challenge grant, the estimated cost for the project is $335 million.

Renovations are already underway at the Anderson Family Football Complex. That includes overhauls of the football team’s locker room and weight room. But there’s more significant work to come.
