Three car collision results in one death on Lake Murray dam. Victim identified

One person died and two others were injured after a three-car wreck on the Lake Murray dam.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 52-year-old David E. Burk of Irmo.

The wreck happened at 6:45 p.m. Friday on S.C. 6 near Corley Mill Road, Highway Patrol Trooper David Jones reported. That’s on the 1800 block of N. Lake Drive.

Burk was headed toward Lexington and crossed into the opposing lane and hit an SUV head on. Burk’s car then hit another sedan.

The driver of Civic died, Jones said. The two other drivers were were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the coroner’s office.

The highway patrol is investigating the crash. The dam was shut down for hours while crews cleared the wrecked.
