Temperature reaches 105 in Sioux Falls on Tuesday — highest in 27 years

Tuesday was the hottest day in Sioux Falls in 27 years.

The city last reached 105 degrees in 1995, when the temperature peaked at 106 on July 13. The all-time temperature record in Sioux Falls was set in 1988, when temps climbed to 110 degrees June 21.

The previous high on Aug. 2 in Sioux Falls was 101 degrees, set in 1930 and 1936.

While 100-degree temperatures were hit all the way from Montana to Texas, South Dakota registered the highest temps in the country as Winner hit 111 degrees. A heat advisory was set to end for the region at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

While temperatures will cool down in South Dakota from Tuesday's high, it will still be warm.

After dropping to 87 on Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will reach the high 90s on Friday before cooling down again during the weekend with highs in the 80s.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 87. North northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 88. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 87.
