DILLON THOMPSON: Lunchtime has gone full sci-fi, and it's all thanks to this crazy new replacement called Huel. This stuff looks a lot like dog food, but apparently when you pour in boiling water, you get a delicious, nutritious meal that's high in protein, fiber, and can basically replace your entire lunch routine in just five minutes. But are we really ready to skyrocket our lunch into the future? To find out, we're going to try this meal replacement to see if it's really time to get rid of the old school lunch forever.

Huel is this vegan, plant-based nutritious meal replacement company that makes shakes, powders, and all kinds of stuff. We ordered three of their lunchtime meals. We got Mexican chili, Thai green curry, and macaroni and cheese. I'm going to have each of these for the next three days and see how well it works.

So to make this stuff, all you do is boil water over a pot and then use the handy little measuring cup that comes with Huel to know how much water and how much dry ingredients you want to mix together in your bowl. Then, you stir that, cover for five minutes, and you're ready to go. First up, let's try day one. It's our Mexican chili.

Take a bite. It's not bad. It's spicy. The texture is OK. The flavor is not crazy, but it is at least not as gross as it looks when it's dry.

All right, now it's day two, and it's time for me to try the Thai green curry. Big brave scoop here. Oh no. That has no flavor kind of.

Day three, we're trying macaroni and cheese. And as a little treat, we're going to compare it to Kraft Mac and cheese to see how it stacks up. I mean, you know.

Time for the Huel. This isn't bad. The texture is not cheesy. It doesn't taste like mac and cheese.

All right. Now that's finally over, it's time to compare this thing on taste and lunchability, which is if you'd be willing to actually have this for your lunch every single day. First up, taste. So a lot of these were not good.

The Mexican chili was all right, and the mac and cheese was bad, and the Thai green curry was flat out horrible. So for that reason, we're going to give this a two out of five for taste. Next up, lunchability. This stuff is pretty easy to make, and it's also really nutritious.

So it's good if you're trying to get all of your protein, your carbohydrates, your healthy fats, everything in one simple container in just five minutes. So for that reason, we're going to give it a little bump although because it's actually hard to eat this stuff, we can't give it too much. We'll give it a three out of five for lunchability.

Tallying our scores together, we have a five out of ten for Huel, which is not amazing. It's just whatever, which is basically how I feel about this stuff. That said, there are lots of good reason to try this. But if you need something that tastes really good and you want better mac and cheese than this, you'd do better off with Kraft.
