The Ibrox manager was something of an expert in knockout competitions during his playing career at Liverpool but admits that the side currently under his guidance have failed to fulfil their potential in five attempts to win a cup.
Celtic defender Stephen Welsh has signed a new four-year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2025. The 21-year-old centre-back has been with Celtic for well over a decade, having progressed through the academy ranks and into the first-team squad. Welsh made his first-team debut last season in a 4-1 away win over Hamilton in the Scottish Premiership in February 2020.
Rangers and Celtic's Scottish Cup fourth-round match has been moved to Sunday as the SFA and SPFL announced changes to avoid games clashing with Prince Philip's funeral. The Old Firm game was due to kick-off at 4pm on Saturday but has now been moved to 3pm on Sunday. Meanwhile, all of Saturday's SPFL fixtures originally planned to kick-off at 3pm have now been moved to 12pm starts.
