    Jones, Perea, Freese help New York City hold off Toronto 3-2

    Rookie Malachi Jones and Andrés Perea scored second-half goals and Matt Freese made nine saves as New York City FC held on for a 3-2 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday night. Santiago Rodríguez staked New York City (5-5-2) to a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick in the 25th minute. Rodríguez scored for a fourth time this season — sending a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner of the net following a hand-ball foul on Toronto midfielder Matty Longstaff.

    Kevin Kelsey scores first MLS goal to help Cincinnati beat Crew 2-1

    Kevin Kelsy scored his first MLS goals, Luciano Acosta added a goal and an assists and FC Cincinnati beat the Columbus Crew 2-1 Saturday night to extend its win streak to four games. Acosta, on the right side of the area, dribbled toward to goal line, drawing the defense and goalkeeper Patrick Schulte toward him before playing a chip-shot entry to the 19-year-old Kelsey at the back post for the header from point-blank range into a wide-open net to give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute.

    Agyemang, Kahlina lead Charlotte to 1-0 victory over Nashville

    Patrick Agyemang scored early in the second half and Kristijan Kahlina made three saves to lead Charlotte FC to a 1-0 victory over Nashville SC on Saturday night. Charlotte (5-5-2) ended a scoreless duel on a goal by Agyemang in the 52nd minute. Kerwin Vargas notched an assist on Agyemang's third goal of the campaign.
