Report: Giants add CB Bradberry on 3-year, $45M deal

The New York Giants, hoping to bolster a struggling defense, have agreed to a free agent deal with cornerback James Bradberry, according to multiple reports Monday.

According to both NFL Network and ESPN, Bradberry's deal will be for three years and $45 million, including $32 million guaranteed.

The 26-year-old Bradberry had played his first four NFL seasons with the Carolina Panthers, who selected him in the second round (No. 62 overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played in 60 of 64 possible games with the Panthers, starting them all and recording 279 tackles, eight interceptions, 47 passes defended and three sacks.

Last season Bradberry picked off a career-high three passes, which tied for the team lead in Carolina, which had the NFL's 13th-best pass defense in 2019 (231 pass yards allowed per game). Last season the Giants ranked among the league's bottom five in scoring defense (28.2 points allowed, 30th in NFL), pass defense (264.1 pass yards allowed, 28th) and takeaways (16, tied for 28th).

Earlier Monday the Giants retained defensive tackle Leonard Williams by placing the franchise tag on him, two days after also re-signing linebacker David Mayo to a three-year extension.
