Public meetings scheduled for Ohio River Brownfields Project

Two public meetings will be held, one in Beaver Falls and one in Rochester, to discuss the Ohio River Brownfields Project.

The first will be from 6:30-8 p.m. April 20 at the Beaver Falls city building, with the second being from 6:30-8 p.m. April 21 at the Rochester municipal building auditorium.

In 2021, Beaver County received a $600,000 federal grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to undertake environmental assessments of known or perceived brownfield sites, develop site redevelopment plans, and identify infrastructure improvements needed to stimulate revitalization in Beaver County.

This is part of the U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment Effort.

Reuse planning is underway for brownfield target areas that have been identified in Beaver Falls and Rochester. The public meetings will review the initial findings and will discuss opportunities and constraints presented by the target areas.
