Over 60 animals removed from home in Yuba County

Authorities removed 61 animals from a home in Olivehurst on Thursday after they were found living inside an uninhabitable residence. The animals ranged from livestock and poultry to domestic animals, authorities said. “The home was observed strewn with garbage and feces, with many animals in small crates and malnourished conditions,” a news release from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office read. Authorities also found a dead horse during the search at a home in the 1600 block of 2nd Avenue in Olivehurst. Neighbors reported the dead horse last month. An investigation began Dec. 28 after Yuba County Animal Care Services saw several animals in poor condition, authorities said.
