Another year, another miss in the NHL draft lottery for the Columbus Blue Jackets, but they still own a top-five selection.
Hockey Canada released its initial 22-player roster Friday for the tournament that runs May 10-26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia. Bedard, the 2023 first-overall draft pick and a finalist for this season's Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year, is coming off a successful first year with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Blue Jackets center Adam Fantilli is returning to the ice. After being sidelined for the final 33 games of his rookie season due to a calf laceration he suffered in a 4-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Jan. 28, Fantilli will join Team Canada for the upcoming World Championships according to The Hockey News. “I only played 49 games this year,” Fantilli told THN. In those 49 games, the third-overall pick in the 2024 NHL draft recorded 12 goals – tied for sixth-best on the team with Johnny Gaudreau and Alexandre Texier – and 15 assists.
