As the first part of their nine-part rankings series, the team over at NHL Network recently released their rankings for the Top-20 Centers in the NHL. Spots 1-5 are of no surprise, but two St. Louis Blues made the list: Ryan O’Reilly (15) and the newly-paid Robert Thomas (20). Ryan O’Reilly at No.
All of that just to get steamrolled by the Colorado Avalanche 4-0, and Vladimir Tarasenko only managed to play in 24 regular season games due to his lingering shoulder injury. After the playoffs were over, the rumors of him requesting a trade began to swirl, leading the Blues to leave him unprotected in the Seattle Expansion Draft, though he did not get selected. During this offseason, veteran forward and long-time enemy Brandon Saad joined the team.
Third Line Ivan Barbashev – Brayden Schenn – Jake Neighbours This line will be a huge hitting and scoring presence, even if Ivan Barbashev and Brayden Schenn’s scoring drops, while Jake Neighbours could be sent to the AHL if things don’t work out early in the season. Schenn and Barbashev play a similar style. Neighbours is a power forward with the skills to make him a fantastic fit with these two.
