The Jacksonville Jaguars need to play a certain way to win, but they can’t allow anything to upset a delicate balance. If the Jaguars can run the ball a lot with Leonard Fournette, play great defense and prevent Blake Bortles from having to make any big plays, they’re fine. When something goes awry, like when Bortles threw two unlucky interceptions in a stretch of three passes – in his defense, both picks were tipped up in the air – then they’re going to struggle.
Oakland Raiders franchise quarterback Derek Carr has picked up from where he left off last season through the first two games of this season. Carr, who is already a leading candidate for the NFL’s most-valuable-player award, has led Oakland to two victories over the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets. He is also third in the league in adjusted completion percentage and deep passing ratings, according to Pro Football Focus. However, Carr isn’t about to take full credit for the early success he’s had. The rise of Chris Carson has been one of the biggest surprises of the season. Slowly but surely, the rookie has overtaken veterans Eddie Lacy and Thomas Rawls for the primary role in Seattle’s offense. The Packers’ offense hasn’t been a bit disappointing thus far, though a big reason for that is they’ve faced stout Seahawks and Falcons defenses.
