Matt Breida starred with 138 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries while also delivering three catches for 21 yards on four targets Sunday in the 49ers’ Week 2 win over Detroit.
Advice: As color commentator Chris Spielman put it, Breida ran angry on Sunday. Playing with an obvious chip on his shoulder, Breida brought the thunder all afternoon, pounding his way to big runs, the biggest of which came on a masterful 66-yard touchdown sprint late in the third quarter. It was a phenomenal piece of running though the Niners, in particular wide receiver Pierre Garcon, deserve huge credit for blocking his way to the end zone. Many have wondered if Breida’s size would prevent him from being an NFL workhorse but that argument is getting weaker by the day. Breida will try to keep the momentum going next week when the Niners travel to Kansas City.

Matt Breida rushed 11 times for 46 yards and caught 1-of-2 targets for five yards in the 49ers' Week 1 loss to the Vikings.
Advice: Breida and Alfred Morris each received 12 touches in the anticipated timeshare. Morris got the start and the important goal-line carries -- four of them from inside the five-yard line to be exact -- but Morris was unable to convert any of them and lost a fumble at the two-yard line. Breida worked most of the second half with the Niners trailing by 18 at one point. This figures to be a true split going forward, with Morris likely handling the load when the Niners have the lead and Breida getting the playing time when the 49ers are chasing points. Breida will be an RB3/4 next week against the Lions.
