Prince Harry’s 2016 statement confirming that he was dating Meghan Markle can no longer be found on the British royal family’s website. The move was reportedly made in December but is making headlines now after Newsweek noticed the change. They claim that the last time archive site Wayback Machine successfully recorded a functioning version of the page was on Dec. 3, 2023. When the site tried to view the page on Dec. 10 it was unsuccessful, implying that the page was deleted sometime between those dates. In November 2016, Prince Harry’s communications secretary released a rare statement, condemning the “wave of abuse and harassment” that his then-girlfriend received after their relationship became public. The statement was a rare one for the royal family at the time, who normally don’t release statements regarding their personal lives.
