Anthony Edwards will have to wait for his first all-star selection. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard, who made a strong case for selection with his play thus far this season, was passed over by the NBA Western Conference coaches, whose reserve choices were revealed Thursday. Domantas Sabonis, Paul George, Lauri Markkanen, Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jaren Jackson Jr. were selected over Edwards.
Considering the quality of the opponent, the Orlando Magic have had a strong start to their four-game road trip. The Magic (20-32) split their mini-series with the 76ers in Philadelphia, coming back from down 21 to pull out the 119-109 win Monday before struggling with their shooting in Wednesday's 105-94 loss. The 76ers have been a top-three seed in the East for the last several weeks and were on a seven-game win streak before dropping the first matchup. It's why the Magic left Philadelphia and landed in Minneapolis on Thursday morning even more confident in themselves.
D'Angelo Russell scored 14 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, Anthony Edwards took over in overtime after Russell fouled out, and the Minnesota Timberwolves outlasted the Golden State Warriors 119-114 on Wednesday night. Russell fouled out after two quick whistles in the first minute of overtime. After a scoreless fourth quarter, Edwards was aggressive in overtime, driving to the basket and scoring in traffic on multiple possessions.
