The Cleveland Cavaliers have begun another challenging series in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. The Cavs took on the Boston Celtics in their Eastern Conference semifinal and lost Game 1 120-95. There are many areas Cleveland must examine for their brutal loss, but the play of Darius Garland, Max Strus, and a poor shooting night headline the culprits of defeat. Cleveland entered the Boston series fresh off a 106-94 Game 7 victory over the Orlando Magic in the first round.
With days to go until they open the NBA Playoffs against the Orlando Magic, the Cleveland Cavaliers returned to work to put on the finishing touches of their master plan to stop their opponent. Granted, a lot of that plan probably hinges on whether Donovan Mitchell, who has been dealing with a bothersome knee injury, is available to carry the load on some offensive possessions. “I'm one hundred percent,” Mitchell said when asked to quantify how his knee felt. Mitchell is now six weeks removed from a platelet-rich plasma injection on his knee and has recently shown flashes of being his old self on the court.
