    Kyrie Irving wants to be 'celebrated, not just tolerated,' glad to be in Dallas

    Speaking for the first time as a Dallas Maverick, Kyrie Irving called himself “incredibly, incredibly selfless”, but was glad to be on a team that will “celebrate him,” not just tolerate him. Irving said the lack of respect he felt from the Brooklyn Nets front office was a big part of the reason he asked to be traded. The Nets granted him that request this weekend, sending Irving to Dallas for two players and draft capital. The former Boston Celtics guard spent part of his first press conference in Texas airing grievances about another team he was no longer a part of.

    The big news in the NBA today is the blockbuster trade which sent Kyrie Irving and Markieff Morris to the Dallas Mavericks for Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, an unprotected first round pick in 2029, and second-round picks in 2027 and '29. “I think Dallas got a chance to get to the Finals,” Stephen A. Smith, the host of ESPN's First Take, said.
