The Los Angeles Lakers’ decision to use point guard D’Angelo Russell as a sweetener to dump Timofey Mozgov’s contract on the Brooklyn Nets was a controversial one. The trade was an admission that the new Lakers front office of Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka were giving up on a player their predecessors had selected with the No. 2 pick in the draft just two years ago. After the Lakers went through the 2017 NBA Draft and made their trade of Russell official, Pelinka spoke to the local media about the decision to send a player the team expected to be it’s next star as recently as 2015 to Brooklyn in exchange for Brook Lopez and the No. 27 pick. Paul George is leaving the Pacers eventually. That much has been known since the veteran forward told the team that he intended to hit free agency next summer. Yet while a move could come as late as next summer, there's a chance he's already begun his preparations to live Indiana. A fan spotted a moving truck outside of his house on Thursday. The Celtics held trade talks for George on Thursday, but the sides did not complete a deal before the draft. That doesn't rule out the possibility that George could still be moved this offseason, with the Celtics and Lakers, the latter of whom is believed to be atop his wish list, potential destinations.
Dozier didn't have to wait long to be signed by an NBA team and will join his South Carolina teammate in Los Angeles! He'll likely be a large part of the Summer League when it gets underway in July.
