What is Secrets of the Whales about?

Narrated by Sigourney Weaver and helmed by renowned National Geographic Explorer and underwater photographer Brian Skerry, Secrets of the Whales follows several pods of whales, including humpback, narwhal, sperm, beluga, and orca whales, over the course of three years in their lives. The four-part docuseries explores the social nature of whale pods and the way that their experiences, from grief to joy, interact and correspond with the human experience. James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) executive produced the series.

The footage for the documentary is beautiful and covers important events such as the grieving period of orca whale Tahlequah (J35) at the death of her baby, and more. Disney+ is also home to many great nature documentaries and series from National Geographic, including Kingdom of the Blue Whale, Meet the Chimps, and Planet of the Birds.
