The Toronto Blue Jays' Ryan Goins pulled off the good old hidden-ball trick on Friday night in their game against the Yankees. After Jose Bautista made a nice catch, he threw the ball to Goins, who was able to fake a throw and catch Todd Frazier off second base. Frazier was extremely annoyed and confused while the fans in Toronto were thrilled. It was beautiful and lots of fun. We are all this guy after that play. MLB.com But this one only confused Frazier. There have been other hidden-ball tricks that have baffled almost everyone during games.
Justin Verlander extended his winning record with the Houston Astros, leading his team to a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels in MLB on Friday. After tossing seven shut-out innings against the Angels, Verlander moved to 4-0 since moving to Houston before the end of the August 31 waiver trade deadline. Verlander, a six-time All-Star and former American League (AL) Cy Young award winner (2011), has allowed just two runs in 28 innings with the Astros.
The New York Yankees will make another effort to clinch a wild-card spot Saturday afternoon. The loss also hurt any chance the Yankees might have had of catching the first-place Boston Red Sox in the American League East. The Red Sox defeated the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 Friday night to move four games ahead of the Yankees.
