The St. Louis Cardinals are scratching and clawing, trying to bring the rally cat who invaded the field last week — directly before a Cardinals grand slam — back to Busch Stadium so they can keep the feline as a bit of a mascot. But after the cat, now officially dubbed “Rally Cat,” stole St. Louis hearts with a mad on-field dash, followed by a mad scratching frenzy upon being scooped up a Cardinals grounds-crew member, the team has competition. “We’ve had thousands of inquiries from throughout the region, including many great organizations like the St. Louis Cardinals, in addition to many cat-loving individuals about adopting Rally,” the St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach,
The Boston Red Sox honored their 1967 American League pennant-winning team before Wednesday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Fenway Park. Several members of that “Impossible Dream” team, including Carl Yastrzemski, were on hand to take part in the festivities.
