SEATTLE (AP) — Dylan Moore and the Seattle Mariners finalized a three-year contract worth $8,875,000. Moore's 2025 salary would increases by $250,000 if he has 400 or more plate appearances in 2024. The 30-year-old utilityman would have been eligible for free agency after the 2024 World Series. Moore had asked for a raise from $1.35 million to $2.25 million, and the Mariners had offered $1.9 million when proposed arbitration figures were exchanged on Jan. 13.
Second baseman Kolten Wong is intent on bouncing back from a disappointing defensive season in his first year with the Seattle Mariners. A former two-time Gold Glove winner during his time with the St. Louis Cardinals, Wong's 2022 campaign was one of the worst of his career defensively. For just the second time in his career, Wong had negative runs saved, per FieldingBible.com. Wong had -1 run saved last season with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Seattle Mariners announced on Wednesday plans to open a new event space and a new baseball and softball training facility across the street from T-Mobile Park. The entire development will be called The Boxyard and includes the Hatback Bar & Grille and Steelheads Alley, which opened last summer at the site of the former Pyramid Brewery & Alehouse. Victory Hall will be a 9,500 square-foot event space attached Steelheads Alley that will be completed in time for Opening Day on March 30.
