There are losses … and then there are humiliating defeats. The San Diego Padres endured the latter on Tuesday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix. Not only did San Diego blow a 6-0 lead, but the Padres took a 7-6, walk-off loss when Josh Rojas scored from second base on a two-out, ninth-inning grounder that never left the infield.
A night of bizarre sequences ended with the most peculiar yet: a runner scoring from second on a squibber to the right side. Josh Rojas scored the winning run in the ninth inning when shortstop C.J. Abrams couldn't handle a throw at second base, and the Diamondbacks rallied from a late six-run deficit to beat the Padres 7-6 on Tuesday. You can’t make up some of the things that I saw today,” Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said.
Padres: Steven Wilson: 15-Day IL (hamstring), Adrian Morejon: 15-Day IL (shoulder), Manny Machado: day-to-day (ankle), Drew Pomeranz: 60-Day IL (elbow), Matt Beaty: 60-Day IL (shoulder), Robert Suarez: 15-Day IL (knee), Wil Myers: 10-Day IL (knee), Pierce Johnson: 60-Day IL (elbow), Austin Adams: 60-Day IL (forearm), Fernando Tatis Jr.: 60-Day IL (wrist)
