Ramos homers, Hicks earns 4th win as Giants beat Rockies 4-1 for first series sweep

SAN FRANCISCO | Heliot Ramos hit his second big league home run, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 4-1 on Sunday for their first series sweep this season. Jordan Hicks (4-1) overcame a decrease in his velocity, allowing one run and three hits over five innings with no walks as the Giants stretched their winning streak to a season-high four. Hicks' sinker averaged 91.4 mph, down from 95.3 mph this season coming in.

What we learned as Giants sweep Rockies with fourth straight win

It's never a good idea to say you need a sweep, but given how bad the Giants looked in Boston and Philadelphia on the last road trip, they really could have used one at Coors Field. After a blowout loss on the final day of that trip, manager Bob Melvin was honest about how disappointing it was to come up short. On Sunday, the Giants did seal the deal. With a 4-1 win over the Colorado Rockies, they picked up their first sweep of the 2024 MLB season and extended their winning streak to four games.

Over in left field, Heliot Ramos had a field-level view of Matos' lowlight and highlight. Ramos will have plenty of opportunities to graze that patch of outfield grass himself.
