MLB trade rumors: Marlins 'willing to engage' on Giancarlo Stanton trade

It's really tough to trade Giancarlo Stanton and the rest of his 13-year, $325 million contract, but the Marlins are now open to the possibility with Stanton clearing waivers this week.

MLB Network reports that the Marlins are willing to engage in trade talks with other teams, but they haven't had anything serious in the works just yet. There are a couple of big things going on here.

For one, now that Stanton has cleared waivers there is a greater chance the Marlins eat some of Stanton's contract. But secondly, while they may be willing to eat some of that contract they will be selling incredibly high on their right fielder who has hit more home runs in August (11) than five MLB teams.

The Marlins will be looking for a huge deal to give up Stanton, and they are now on board with trying to make something work. It could be a couple of weeks before anything gets done, but this is a big step in possibly putting the MLB home run leader on the move.
