Michigan reports 9,764 new COVID-19 cases, 137 deaths over 2 days

Michigan reported 9,764 new COVID-19 cases and 137 deaths over Tuesday and Wednesday, averaging 4,882 cases a day.

Michigan has now confirmed 1,147,512 cases and 22,384 deaths.

Of the 137 deaths, 75 were identified during a vital records review, which the state department conducts three times a week.

On Tuesday, the state reported 6,232 of 42,696 diagnostic tests returned positive, yielding a positivity rate of 14.6%. The fatality rate among known cases on Wednesday was 2%.

Michigan reported 149,984 probable cases and 1,495 deaths on Wednesday. Combined with confirmed reports make for a cumulative sum of 1,297,496 cases and 23,879 deaths.
