Jameela Jamil almost auditioned for the fourth season of You— but ended up dropping out because she was uncomfortable with the role.

While appearing on Penn Badgley's Podcrushed podcast, Jameela explained that the role was too "sexy" for her.

"I don't do sex scenes," Jameela explained. "In fact, I was supposed to audition for the most recent season of your show."

She continued, "My character was supposed to be quite sexy, and I pulled out of the audition, because I am so shy about anything sexy that I can't."

Looking back, Jameela says she's never been someone who enjoys "objectifying" herself, which she assumes is a result of "deep childhood sexual trauma stuff."

"I can't even watch sex scenes in films. ... Even on my own, I have to fast forward through sex scenes because I've become so shy about watching other people," she shared.

Jameela admits she does have some regrets about not doing the show, though, particularly when she learned Penn would no longer be doing sex scenes.

"Then you fucking came out and were like, 'Yeah, I'm not doing sex scenes anymore because I'm just going to protect myself,'" Jameela said to Penn.

She added, "And I was like, 'I didn't even know that was a boundary that we could draw. That's fantastic!' But then I was like, I should have gone and done the fucking show!"

While Jameela didn't get the chance to be on You, she said she'd still love to be on the show one day — and jokingly volunteered to be an "asexual character to murder."
