    All Blacks scrumhalf "Super Sid" Going dies aged 80

    Sid Going, a scrumhalf known as “Super Sid” who played 29 tests for the All Blacks in a decade-long international career, has died. Going’s death was confirmed Saturday by the Northland rugby union for which he played more than 100 matches over 16 years, many in company with his brothers Ken and Brian. Stocky and prematurely balding, Going was a key figure in All Blacks teams between 1967 and 1977.

    US works to ensure Venezuela election credible but faces obstacles, official says

    The U.S sees it as a “very open question” whether Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro can win re-election if he holds a free vote in July, and Washington is trying to ensure the ballot is credible in the face of significant obstacles, a senior U.S. official said on Friday. Maduro is vying against Edmundo Gonzalez, veteran ex-diplomat who was named main opposition candidate after primary winner Maria Corina Machado had a ban on holding office upheld by the Supreme Court, a move condemned by the U.S. at the time. Machado has since given Gonzalez her backing.
