Dodgers place CF Pollock on IL

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed center fielder A.J. Pollock on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation in his right elbow on Tuesday.

Pollock has undergone two operations on the elbow -- first in 2010, then in 2016 -- and it hasn't yet been determined how long he may be sidelined this time around.

Manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Monday's game against the host San Francisco Giants that Pollock reported discomfort after Sunday's plane flight. Pollock didn't play in Monday's game.

Pollock is batting .223 with two homers and 14 RBIs in 28 games this season. It is his first campaign with the Dodgers after signing a reported four-year, $55 million deal as a free agent in the offseason.

It marks the fifth time that Pollock has been placed on the injury list during his eight-year career. During his time with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pollock was sidelined with a broken thumb, broken wrist and a groin strain in addition to missing all but 12 games in 2016 due to elbow surgery.

Los Angeles recalled infielder Matt Beaty from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. The 26-year-old Beaty will make his major league debut once he appears in a game.

Beaty was batting .277 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 22 games for Oklahoma City.
