Taylor Knibb won the national title in the time trial to qualify for Paris Olympic cycling after already qualifying in triathlon.
Home favourite Jonathan Milan sees off Tim Merlier in the final sprint to claim his second stage win of the Giro d'Italia on stage 11, while Slovenia's Tadej Pogacar retains his overall lead.
Olympic triathlete Taylor Knibb stunned even herself by winning the women's time trial at the U.S. road cycling championships. Now, she will have the opportunity to compete in two different sports at this year's Paris Games. Knibb ripped over the flat, out-and-back course around Charleston, West Virginia, in 45 minutes, 54 seconds Wednesday, beating pre-race favorite Kristen Faulkner by 11 seconds.
Italian cyclist Jonathan Milan sprinted to victory at the end of the 11th stage of the Giro d’Italia on Wednesday, while Tadej Pogacar kept his firm grip on the leader’s pink jersey. Milan, who rides for the Lidl-Trek team, edged out Tim Merlier and Kaden Groves in a bunch sprint that was made even more chaotic by the headwind at the finish at Francavilla al Mare.
