Jul. 6—It might not be the lefty everyone is waiting on, but the 3M Open did announce a multi-time Masters champion as a part of the 2021 field Monday.

Bubba Watson will make the trip to TPC Twin Cities at the end of the month.

Watson played in the 2020 tournament — played without fans — and missed the cut after an opening-round 67.

Watson finished sixth at the Rocket Mortgage Classic this past weekend. Currently the 52nd-ranked player in the world, he's finished in the top 20 in four of his past seven events. Watson, 42, won the 2012 and 2014 editions of the Masters.

Watson joins Dustin Johnson, Louis Oosthuizen, Sergio Garcia and Rickie Fowler in committing to the 3M Open. Spring Lake Park grad Troy Merritt, who lost in a playoff Sunday in Detroit, previously told the Pioneer Press he also plans to play in the Blaine event.

The 3M Open will be played from July 22-25 with fans in attendance.
