Amateur baseball: Rails dominate on the mound in 10-0 win

Jun. 10—PAYNESVILLE — Christian Lessman and Patrick Courtney combined to throw a one-hitter while the offense held up its end with nine hits in the Willmar Rails' 10-0 victory over the Paynesville Pirates Wednesday.

Lessman was credited with the win after striking out seven, walking two and giving up one hit — a Blake Vagle double in the second inning — over five innings of the amateur baseball game. Courtney had one strikeout, allowing no runs, hits or walks over two innings.

The Rails' Sam Huseby hit a two-run home run in the third, going 1-for-2 with two runs. Ashton Gregory finished 3-for-4 with a run, an RBI and two stolen bases. Gunnar Banks was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Willmar (4-1) travels to Milroy to take on the Yankees in Corn Belt League play at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
