Man dead after shooting in Pittsburgh’s Hill District; victim identified

A man is dead after a shooting in Pittsburgh’s Hill District.

Allegheny County dispatchers say police and medics were sent to the 2100 block of Bedford Avenue at around 6:20 p.m.

A caller told dispatchers a man had been shot in the face.

Officers found a man in the rear of an apartment building. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified as 43-year-old Paul Sakal.

Pittsburgh police say one person has been taken into custody for questioning.
